| | About Us The Lutheran Church: Who we are
and what we believe
Our Saviour's Lutheran Church is a congregation of the
Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).
We are one of 112 congregations that together form the
Northwest Washington Synod. (Synod is
the Greek word meaning walking together.)
Our Saviour's in Arlington, Washington, was founded in 1894 by a small group of
Scandinavians. Today, we are a diverse group of people who share many interests,
but together we call Our Saviour's our home church and we:
- Confess faith in the Triune God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
- Believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior and that the Gospel is the
power of God for the salvation of all who believe.
- Confess that Jesus Christ is the Word of God Incarnate, through whom
everything was made and through whose life, death and resurrection God
fashioned a new creation.
- Accept the canonical Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as the
written Word of God.
